West Berlin 1980. Taken on the Kudamm, near the junction with Joachimstaler Strasse, this shot shows some period typefaces on the shop signs. The ‘inshop’ typeface is called ‘computer’, or in some places ‘data ‘70′, supposedly used on computer screens, but actually more fictional then real. The Rosenthal Studio sign design, made up of blocks, is called ‘pixel’. Also the guy with the bike has a carrier-bag from the Bote & Bock record store, which traded for many years in the Europa Center. Bote & Bock eventually closed in 2000.
